Marcia “Marcie” Lynn Cole McCartney aged 59, of Rochester, NY left her earthly home peacefully at Rochester General on Oct. 8, 2021 and made her journey to the other side to be with her loved ones that she had missed for so many years. Marcie was born on July 26, 1962, in Weston, WV to the late Harold Q. Cole and Mary L. Bee Cole but had been a resident of Rochester, NY for many years. Her strong and nurturing personality will be carried on by her son, Harry. She is survived by her son, Harold Q. McCartney, siblings Roger L. Cole of Weston, WV, Marilyn Cole Posey of Orlando, WV, Marlena L. Cole of Glenville, WV, Marta Cole Denny, and husband James of Girard, OH, Marchelle L. Cole of Weston, WV and Marissa Cole Aman and husband Sam of Jane Lew, WV, stepchildren Bill McCartney, Becky McCartney Barker and husband Robert, and April McCartney Cline along with several nieces and nephews. Marcie is also survived by a special friend, Salina Youngjohn and children Tony, Sophia and Suzie who will miss her greatly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Ronald “Be-Bop” Cole and Robert “Robbie” Cole.
Marcie enjoyed time spent with Pretty Kitty, her family, friends and neighbors and she could talk the corn off of an ear. She loved a good movie and made the best peanut butter candy this side of the Mississippi. Marcie loved walks in the park and playing with Salina and her children. She was married for 17 years to the late Gerald Ray McCartney and they both agreed that their greatest blessing was the birth of their son. Marcie and her son had a bond that could not be broken, and he was an excellent caregiver to his mother. Although he will miss her terribly, he knows they will meet again one day.
Per Marcie’s request her body will be cremated and ashes spread near her father, mother and brothers in WV. A graveside service will be held on May 8, 2022 at the Orlando Cemetery in Orlando, WV.
