She graduated from E.J. Cooper High School in New Hope, Minnesota in 1964, which laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to helping those in need. Mary’s life was marked by her love for dancing, music, and old country and western shows, which brought joy and entertainment into her life and the lives of those around her. An excellent cook, she also took pleasure in preparing meals that gathered friends and family around the table.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Sweet, Robert Sweet, and Paul Stewart; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Becky and Connie. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Cecil Sweet; brothers, Elliot, David, Donald, Wiley, and Michael; and sisters, Cecilia and Sharon.
Mary Ellen Sweet will be remembered for her kind spirit and the care she extended to all who knew her. Her legacy of love and service will continue to live on through her family and everyone she touched.
