Mary Gallagher passed away suddenly at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY on August 26, 2021 around 3:50 AM, at the age of 68.
She is survived by her two sons Robert and Mark Gallagher, her brother Thomas Vitrano, her daughter in law Ami Gallagher and her granddaughter Ava Gallagher, along with many treasured friends and loved ones, including her closest friend, Judy DiPaola.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, god-mother, sister and friend. She was a generous person in both charity to others and in heart. She was the type of person who did not hesitate to give of herself to others in need. Many people have fond memories of the dinners she loved to host with plenty of food to go around. Her door was always opened to those she held dear. She is well known for her work at School #28 as a parent liaison and her time as an EMT for Irondequoit Volunteer Ambulance. She also served as the Vice President for the Irondequoit Police Volunteers.
Per her final wishes, no Funeral will be held. A celebration of life will be planned next year.

My family was touched by Mary’s kindness, love, and generosity when she shared a room with my Mom at Highland Hospital in 2019. Though we were never able to get together again once my Mom got home, Mary and my Mom kept in touch and cherished their phone chats.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mary’s family and to Judy who was right there helping us while she helped Mary.
This wonderful woman will be missed.
