Mary Jean Alessi Rothfuss

Mary Jean Alessi Rothfuss - Rochester Cremation

Mary Jean Alessi Rothfuss passed peacefully on January 19th, 2024.  She celebrated her 85th birthday on January 17th surrounded by her family. She and her husband, John Rothfuss, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on November 26th, 2023. Jean spent her childhood in Rochester. After meeting John, she quickly came to love country life. They began their family at Still Meadows Farm in Penn Yan, eventually moving to Bloomfield. Jean is survived by her children William “BJ” Rothfuss (Kathy, Ayden), Toby Rothfuss (Cathy, Michelle, Rachael, Samantha) and Amy Hulbert (Jamie, Owen, Kendra).

After raising her children, Jean worked as the Produce Manager at the Bloomfield Big M. She eventually worked as a shift manager at Commodore Plastics.

If the weather was warm and sunny, Jean could always be found working outside in her flower garden or enjoying her patio. If forced inside for the day, she was sure to be found baking with country music playing throughout the house. Her desserts were requested by many, especially her cream puffs. She enjoyed reading as well. John and Jean enjoyed time spent in their RV, on countless camping weekends over the years.

Jean was a devoted, warm and kind wife, mother and grandmother. She was a beloved Aunt to her nieces and nephews. Her family meant the world to her and she would do anything for them, whenever they needed her she was there. Jean was strong and independent, approaching life with spirit, persistence and determination. She went with the flow of life, always to be found with a bright smile and joyful laughter.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the West Bloomfield Congregational Church, 9035 Route 5, West Bloomfield, NY 14585. A light luncheon will immediately follow the service at Lima American Legion, 2475 Rt 65, Bloomfield, NY 14469.

Donations in Jean’s name may be made to Thompson Health Gardens Avenue Memorial Fund, 350 Parrish Street, Canandaigua NY 14424 or the West Bloomfield Congregational Church 9035 Route 5, West Bloomfield NY 14585.

To John, and Jean’s family and friends,

We were saddened to hear of Jean’s passing. She was very accommodating, pleasant,
and a good sport when my father (Burt Fingar), brother, and I would show up during
hunting season. Our sincere condolences to you all on your loss. We hope that you
have many fond memories to see you through this difficult time.
