Walworth- Maureen G. Smith (Mo) was born January 9, 1939, in Rochester, NY, peacefully passed away at home after a short battle with cancer on June 1, 2022, age 83. Maureen was predeceased by the love of her life husband Ron, loving grandson Christopher Vendel, parents Frederick and Gertrude Collins, brothers Kenneth and Frederick Collins, Sisters Kathleen (Bill) Enright and Evelyn (John) Diaz. She is survived by her children Tina Smith, Debora (Shawn) Orchard, James (Ruth) Smith, and grandchildren Michelle Vendel and Megan Smith (Caleb). Her sister Marlene (Frank) Ciulla and many nieces and nephews.
Maureen lived a long happy life as a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, and grandmother. She loved her family fiercely and loved to cook and feed everyone. She enjoyed throwing family parties and any excuse for a get together. It was always ‘five o’clock somewhere’. Maureen had a green thumb and enjoyed flowers, vegetable gardening and canning. She was sassy, witty and if something was broken, she would find a way to fix it. Her C.B. handle in the 60’s and 70’s was ‘Miss Fix It’ and her motto was if you want something done you do it yourself!
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 11AM at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534. Following the service there will be a celebration of life at Maureen’s house.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Walworth Sportsman’s Club for her grandson Christopher Vendel’s Scholarship fund in the memo line. Po box 104, Walworth, NY 14568.
