Maureen Joan Locke

Mom FB

Greece NY:  After a courageous battle with cancer, Maureen Joan Locke (Case) passed away at home on May 5, 2016. She was born in Belfast, Ireland to Jack & Mary Case on March 16, 1946. She moved to Rochester, NY when she was two years old. Maureen was predeceased by her parents and her sister-in-law Kathy Case. Maureen is survived by three loving siblings, Barbara Born, Freddie Case & Eddie Case and their respective families. She is also survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Michael Locke and eight children Michael (Andrea), Tracy (Pat), Sean, Kari, Tammy, Loren (Tamara) & Scott (Kiyah) and their spouses) and 23 grandchildren (with her first great grandchild on the way) and 3 dogs (Minnie, Daisy & Max). Maureen dedicated her life to the work that she loved and that was being a Registered Nurse at New York State Hospital (Terrence Building), The Genesee Hospital, and The Women’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Childbirth Associates for most of her career and to the family she raised for the last 54 years of her life, including all the children she took into her home and provided guidance to through the years (they know who they are!). Maureen was the epitome of perseverance and soul…striking out on her own at 16 and building a life that she owned and more importantly, family and friends that she loved and cared for. Anyone who knew Maureen knew two things…the first being that she was a lot stronger and feistier than she looked and the second thing, she was fiercely loyal and would always be there, without reservation and searching gratitude, when those she loved needed it. Maureen was the foundation, the roots of her family. We only hope we can do her as proud as she has done us all!

Maureen’s Grandchildren are Ryan Markle, Kevin Markle, Dylan Markle, Caitlin Brown*, Casey Brown, Cory Brown, Ashley Sullivan, Connor Sullivan, Sarah Sullivan, Riley Sullivan, Aidan Sullivan, Qyasia Locke, Alliyah Locke, Mya Locke, Mia Locke, Ariel Locke, Alexis Locke, Gabriel Locke, Isabella Locke.

Maureen I love you and miss you so much. You were my big sister and my only sister and we had a special relationship talking to each other about so many things . You went the extra mile to always reach out to me if I had a problem especially with my son Dave, you found the right doctors who found the problem and fixed it for my son. You were there for all your children and everybody else’s children, I loved hearing your laughter and of course I made you laugh a lot but I will always hear your laughter in my heart Love you
