Henrietta, NY: Animal lover, harmonica player and well-loved by all, Mike’s love of life did not come to an end with his death. Mike, a 42 year cancer survivor, passed away on December 22, 2021, after many years of battling and managing the side effects of that cancer cure. He lives on in all of us he left behind; his spouse, his children, friends and anyone wearing Steelers attire on the street.
We are confident that he is now reunited with his parents, relatives and his dogs that were the center of his life. He leaves behind his immediate family; loving spouse, Abby, his children; Christina Redding, Michael (Katie) Knorr, Andrew (Bridget) Sardone, Keith Sardone, Timothy (Lauren) Uschold. In addition, he was proud to be a grandparent of Emma and Sean. He also lives in the hearts of his sister, Barbara Jean Linder, and her children, Tammy and Theresa Linder, Loralee (Adam) Leisenring and many wonderful great nieces and nephews.
Mike was a natural born helper, volunteering with Lakeshore Fire Dept as a young person, American Red Cross Disaster Action and mostly recently, Mended Hearts. Retired from the American Red Cross, Mike continued to cultivate those relationships and build new with all people he encountered.
There will be a private interment at Ascension Gardens in Henrietta with a Celebration of Life planned for the Spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, please honor him with a donation to your favorite animal rescue association.

You will be in my heart. You were such an instrumental part of reuniting my daughter and I. You are the best man I’ve ever known.
The grief is unexplainable
I love you
The Mike I remember best and love the most is the one who attended the wedding of our daughter, Bridget, and his son, Andy. We were enjoying a lovely reception at a swanky place in Southeastern Wisconsin when the D.J. played a song that just about everybody loves. All of a sudden, Mike walked up near the D.J.’s station, pulled a harmonica out of the pocket of his tuxedo, and played right along with Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.” (After all, what snazzily dressed guy doesn’t have a harmonica in the pocket of his tuxedo?) That was October 6, 2007. To this day, whenever I hear that song, I can close my eyes and see and hear Mike with his harmonica and the most wonderful smile and a twinkle in his eyes. Rest in peace, you dear man. Thank you for all you did to make Andy Sardone an outstanding man. You have blessed the world in so many ways.
Abby, I’m so sorry to hear you have lost the love of your life. Prayers for you.
So saddened to hear about Michael’s passing. He was such a sweet, gentle, mischievous sole. We worked together at the American Red Cross and also taught defensive driving classes on the side. We always had fun and found something to laugh about.
My thoughts and prayers to Abby and the rest of the family. Mike was loved and truly one of a kind!
Sending prayers and hugs, Abby. I’m so sorry that you lost your best friend and love of your life. Mike will always be with you in your heart ❤️
Abby, this is Gene Binder, the vice president of the Rochester Mended Hearts support group for heart surgery patients. I’m sure you know that Mike was planning to join our group of recovering heart surgery patient visitors at Strong Memorial Hospital, to offer them his support and encouragement. He was scheduled to begin when the hospital would allow our patient bedside visiting. I had the pleasure of meeting him, and many text conversations. We, and the Strong heart patients, will miss him. When his life celebration is scheduled, please add me to the notification list. My email is eb518@aol.com. Someone, representing our Mended Hearts chapter, (probably me) will try to attend.
So sorry to hear about the passing of your husband! May you find peace knowing he will always be in your heart and all the love and support family and friends can give you! Thinking of you and your family during this very difficult time.
