Michael Keith MacLean

Michael Keith MacLean- Rochester Cremation

Michael Keith MacLean passed away unexpectedly in June of 2024, in Rochester, New York, at the age of sixty.

He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Brenda “Bonnie” MacLean and father, Alan MacLean.

Michael grew up primarily in Pittsford, New York. His youth was filled with many friends, family vacations, playing lacrosse, and skiing. He excelled in high school academics and graduated with honors from Pittsford Mendon High School in 1981. Upon graduation, he attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

After college, Michael lived in North Carolina for a brief time before returning to Rochester to be near his family and friends. He devoted over thirty years of his life to working as a resident counselor for young people in crisis at St. Joseph’s Villa in Rochester, New York.

Michael was passionate about music, especially jazz and the Rolling Stones, and enjoyed curating a large and uniquely varied collection over his lifetime. His other interests included movies, pop culture, and politics. Michael enjoyed spending time on Canandaigua Lake and the beaches of Cape Cod. He was an animal lover and was very fond of dogs, specifically the cherished family Labrador retriever Colby. Michael was always full of fun and will forever be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, good looks, incredible presence, and classic sense of style.

Michael was loved dearly by his family and close circle of friends. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Michael is survived by his sister Karen MacLean (husband Christopher George) of Brighton, New York, sister Marilyn Reginato (husband Paul) of San Francisco, California, niece Elizabeth George, nephew Jackson George, cousin Jay Burgess (wife Thea), and cousin Sharon Fox (husband Eben).

The burial will be private; however, a celebration of Michael’s life will be held in the fall.

For those wishing to honor Michael, donations to Lollypop Farm in Michael’s name would be greatly appreciated.

So many memories of Michael flooding my mind today. Skiing, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, skateboarding. Our adventures in the woods atop Garnsey road. We grew up like brothers and I am lucky to have had him be such a huge part of my youth. Those memories are vivid still and will not be forgotten.
