Mike Williams - Rochester Cremation

Mike Williams, 64, of Henrietta, NY, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose legacy of service, dedication, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Williams; his brother, Rich Williams; and his father- and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Debbie Williams; daughters Joanne Williams and Michelle Hildreth (Kyle); and grandchildren Austin, Jack, and Ryan. Mike also leaves behind his mother, Margaret Williams; his brothers, John Williams (Cheri) and Jimmy Williams (Cathy); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Born and raised in Rush, NY, Mike graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School before earning his Master of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Buffalo. In a remarkable act of patriotism, Mike joined the Army Reserves at the age of 41, following the events of 9/11. He proudly served from 2002 until his retirement in 2020, attaining the rank of Major. His commitment to his country and his fellow service members was a source of immense pride. Mike was deployed twice to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and to New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing essential care to those in need.

Professionally, Mike was a dedicated pharmacist who spent 17 years serving at the VA Finger Lakes Health Care System in Canandaigua, where his meticulous care and commitment to patient safety saved countless lives. His passion for the profession never wavered. At the age of 60, Mike earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Shenandoah University, furthering his education and deepening his ability to make a difference in the lives of others.

Outside of his professional life, Mike was known for his vibrant personality and his love of music. As a drummer in a band, he found great joy in playing music and sharing that joy with others. His grandsons, Austin, Jack, and Ryan, will fondly remember the giant bottles of Hershey’s chocolate syrup he brought out for ice cream sundaes and the “happy dance” he did as he waved goodbye, bringing smiles and laughter to every moment they shared together.

Mike was also a devoted animal lover, with a special fondness for the many dogs he cared for over the years—Stanley, Rocky, Daisy, Ginger, Gizmo, and Sammy. His infectious laugh and warm heart made him beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. His love of family, service to others, and passion for life will be remembered with gratitude and affection by all who had the honor of crossing his path.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the American Legion, 260 Middle Rd, Henrietta, NY 14467.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breakthrough T1D™ (Type 1 Diabetes).

Rest in peace, Mike. Your laughter and light will echo in our hearts forever.

Mike was a great Pharmacy Officer while at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). He had an infectious upbeat spirit we all admired. Never a dull moment in his court. Mike was intelligent, worked hard and the staff enjoyed working with him. I was so impressed he joined the U.S. Reserves at the middle of his life and all for Duty, Honor and Country post 9-11. During the past few days, those who knew him at BAMC have called each other in disbelief. How can someone, so energetic, and wonderful leave so soon. We know Mike is in the presence of the Lord! Mike-Thank-YOU for your support and those wonderful times we shared with you at BAMC…you will never be forgotten.
    Sincerely,
    COL “T” (RET)
