Nancy Jean Raco

Nancy Jean Raco - Rochester, NY - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY:  Nancy Jean Raco lost her battle with cancer and was granted her angel wings on September 22, 2021.  Her final days were spent at home surrounded by family and friends.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Jessica and Sarah; her grandchildren, Alex, Ronnie, Jeston, Sofia, Blake, Jovin, Joshua, and Jacob; her great-granddaughter Arialise; and her sisters Annie & Susie.

Nancy’s life would seem too short to many, but to anyone blessed to know her understood the quality of her existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which she was in their lives.  Her giving heart, her resolute sense of family, and her shear ability to make you smile when you needed to, created the proverbial glue that keeps this family together.

Nancy loved to make jewelry, knit, reupholster furniture, travel and ski in her youth, took pride in her garden and lawn, and completed countless hours as an annual volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House.  Nancy’s career at NTID/RIT taught her ASL and gave her a group of unmatched coworkers and friends.

In her final months, weeks, and days, she became very tiny, frail and visibly weak.  She gave us all such courage, showed us unmeasurable strength and patience, and reminded us all of the preciousness of life.

A Memorial Service will be held at Spiritu Christi (121 N. Fitzhugh St, Rochester, NY) at 10am on Saturday, September 25, 2021.  A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion (450 Scottsville-Chili Rd).  In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House.

May God bless and keep you until we meet again!

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. We had many wonderful conversations of what we planned for our retirement days; family and grandkids. She is at peace now and will always be remembered.

Nancy became a dear friend to me in the late 70’s when I lived in Germany. She was a wonderful person who spread joy to others. She was a great cook as well. I shall cherish the friendship I had with her.

Praying for comfort and strength for all her family.
