Patrick Mahoney Parish passed Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Hildebrandt Center in Rochester, NY after a short illness.
Patrick, the son of Raoul Mahoney Parish and Bianca DiMartino Parish, was born February 14, 1949 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. As Patrick‛s father was a Lt. Col. in the Air Force, Patrick‛s childhood was spent in various states and even Japan following his father‛s assignments. His father ended his career at Griffiths Air Force Base in Rome, NY.
Pat graduated from Rome Free Academy and received a B.S. in Political Science at Utica College of Syracuse University. At Utica College‛s Radio Station, Pat began his love of Broadcasting. During his career, he worked at radio and or television stations in Utica, Syracuse, Binghamton, Atlantic City and Elmira. He ended his career in Elmira, NY as the General Manager of WENY AM/FM and Television.
On July 3, 1971, Patrick married Rita Gros at Zion Lutheran Church, New Hartford, NY. Rita is the daughter of Leland and Rita Moyer Gros of Fort Plain, NY. At the time of his death, they resided in Batavia, NY.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Rita; Nephew, Brian and Elizabeth Clapper and family, Jamesville, NY; Niece, Carrie and Robert Phillips and family. Canajoharie, NY; Sisters, Pamela Parish, Albany, NY; Marisa Parish, Lynbrook, NY; Lisa Ellis, Sunrise, FL; Brothers, Lee Parish, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; and Lynn Parish (Julie McCoy), Little Falls, NY; Brother- in-law, Richard and Bette Gros, Ellington, CT; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pat enjoyed spending time with all his family. He especially enjoyed time that he and Rita spent watching the birds and feeding the chipmunks from their porch. They loved attending estate sales and Pat always seemed to find something he couldn‛t live without.
Patrick will be interred at the Leland and Rita Moyer Gros Family plot in the Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain, NY.
