Paul E. Sturgeon of Rochester, NY born June 4, 1963, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2022 at the age of 58.
“This we’ll defend” was Paul’s motto in life. He was a proud and honorable solider, and a loyal, loving brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He had a deep sense of honesty and integrity that was the bedrock of his life. Paul was a very smart and intuitive man who knew exactly how to make you feel loved and accepted. When he was with you, he was fully present and engaged. He made you feel special and safe. He was strong and fearless to his very last day.
Paul had many passions in life, in college he studied music and computer science. He loved literally all music and he was exceptionally good at building computers out of spare parts. His other passions were animals, motorcycles, vintage cars, gaming, and building things with his hands. There was nothing he could not do or learn to do. However, above all, Paul had a deeply passionate relationship with cheese. Yes, cheese, there was no greater food on earth. As a child, he would often walk that mile to the grocery store not to buy candy, but to buy a big block of cheese. His life would have been less joyful if not for cheese.
Paul was very outgoing and loved to help people. He took his duty to serve others very seriously. All you had to do is call him up and he would be there anytime, any distance, day or night. He liked to be needed and never asked for anything in return. Though he did not have any children of his own, he was Uncle Paulie to many kids of cousins and friends. Giving his time to the young people in his life was important to him. That is one of many ways he made a difference in this world.
Paul is predeceased by his parents Robert and Patricia Sturgeon, and survived by his sister’s Linda, Patty, Amy (Lisa), and brother’s Robert and David. There was a very special place in his heart for his niece Rene’ (Tyler) and so many, many other relatives and friends. His heart was full and so is all of ours for having him in our lives. Until we meet again.
Military honors will be present to Paul on June 24, 2022 promptly at 2:00pm at the Bath National Cemetery San Juan Ave, Bath NY 14810, where his ashes will be laid to rest following the presentation.
I wish I could have known my brother Paul, but we will meet hereafter. I did have a chance to talk with him at least and what isxsaid of him is very true. Love you my brother.
I guess I’m always late in finding out about my old Friends, who have been Called to Heaven. Paul and I had a Short-lived Friendship, when he lived in El Paso. It was amazing, from the First day, his Super Personality, and Sense of Humor. It would be years later we reconnected on Social Media, and I was pleased to communicate with him, once again. I thought about Paul, and looked him up, to see what he was up to…only to find everyone he knew, saying their farewells. I am very sad, I didn’t get to say my farewell to him. I surely will hit him up in Prayer! God Rest your Soul, Paul. I’ll see you, when I get to Heaven! Your contagious smile must have all the Angels smiling. Thank you for your Service! God Bless your Family, and Loved One’s. Amen 🙏
I was just talking about Paul with my kids. He was such a wonderful person and I am fortunate to have been able to call him my friend. Gone but not forgotten.
Paul was our neighbor and also a great friend, he was always there to help his Sister Linda, whom he took care of. We shared a lot in common, we both served our country in the Army, both were stationed in Europe and shared the same feelings on the political turmoil in our country. As a friend we both helped each other when needed, from snow blowing our neighborhood to sharing good laughs and conversations. He will be missed by us all. Rest in Peace Paul, your friend and neighbors Bryan and Molly..
