Philip J. Wiegand - PIttsford, NY - Rochester Cremation

Pittsford, NY:  Our beloved husband and father joined his parents and brother with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the age of 91. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Mabel and brother John. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence Wiegand; daughters Marcia LeBlanc (Mike) of Fairport, NY and Donna Didas (Ted) of Sandy, UT; grandchildren Chase Didas, Renée, Cole, Brooke and Jacob LeBlanc; sister Ethelyn Schneider; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Phil followed in the footsteps of his father and brother, learning trumpet and leading a band when he was a teenager, playing many dance halls and venues throughout Rochester. Playing trumpet remained a passion throughout his entire life. He earned his first bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music, and degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering at RIT. He worked at Wollensak/3M and then Kodak as an engineer, and was awarded several patents. Phil loved to golf and was always busy with multiple projects around the house.

Above all, he loved his family and friends. The greatest times in his life were spent in the company of his wife, children, grandchildren, his beloved sister Ethelyn and his many, many friends both in Rochester and Florida.

A private funeral will be held at St Louis Church in Pittsford. Burial will be at White Haven Cemetery in Pittsford. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
