Pittsford, NY: Ralph Edwards passed away on July 7, 2019 at the age of 93 in Rochester, NY. Ralph was born and raised in the North Country and remained to the end a country boy at heart. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and afterwards studied engineering at Clarkson University. While working at Carrier Corporation and studying at Syracuse University he met and won the heart of a savvy school teacher and war widow, Ruth O’Harrigan Runyon. They married on Thanksgiving Day, 1950, and had 64 wonderful years together. The family moved to Rochester when Ralph joined Delco Products in 1962.
Ralph’s interests over the years included traveling with his wife, hunting with his father, sailing with his daughters, and sharing stories from back in the day with his granddaughters. He was as good a listener as he was a storyteller. Ralph’s love of history, especially as it related to railroads was shared with special friends. Volunteering at the EquiCenter was his joy late in life.
His courage, kindness, wisdom, humor, patience and profound positivity never faltered. They are gifts that will steady us in the days ahead. His daughters, Debbie Edwards (Ron Orlando) and Kathy (John) Faulkner; sister, Kathryn; granddaughters, Katy, Britt, and Hill; and extended family and many friends will miss him dearly.
