Richard Verhagen - Bath, NY - Rochester Cremation

Richard (Dick) Joseph Verhagen, 88, of Rochester, NY passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the Bath VA.

Dick was born September 16, 1932 in Rochester, NY. He was the youngest child of Francis & Inez Verhagen. During the Korean War Dick served two tours of duty for the United States Army. Upon returning to Rochester he continued his career as a machinist for Gleason Works where he remained for over 35 years. In 1959 Dick would marry Barbara June Young.  A marriage that would last for 55 years and a love that would last long after.  The life that Dick and Barbara would build gave them 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and all the memories that many people create.

Aside from being a lifelong New York Yankees fan, he loved listening to Patsy Cline and always appreciated a good greasy spoon diner.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Frank & Inez Verhagen and his 3 brothers, Don, Tom and Harry. Also, his loving wife, Barbara June Verhagen. Dick is survived by his children, Cathy (Rob) Santana, Sue (Bob) Truax, Carol (Chris) Strang, Trish (Edgar) Sampson, Ruthie (Ryan) Davis & Richard (Vanessa) Verhagen. His grandchildren, Kimmy (Ricky) Graff, Heather (Brad) Prichard, Micah (Sam) Waidl, Jessica (Thomas) Jones, Joseph (Elise) Militello, Andrew Strang, Bobby Truax, Cory (Jackie) Yeomans, Leyna Collalto, Emily Verhagen, Xiomara Hart, Skyler Davis, Latavia Barnish & Pippa Davis. 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Crawford Funeral Home, 495 N. Winton Rd. Rochester, NY 14610 on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 4-6 p.m. Occupancy and masking regulations will be followed.

    I am deeply sorry for your loss. I loved having time with your father he was always very kind to me.
    His coffee with an ice cube…. His soup which I warmed up for him. He would eat his peanut butter and jelly, celery with peanut butter.
    I enjoyed him and he always made me feel special to him.
