Robert “Bob” Joseph Brahaney

Robert “Bob” Joseph Brahaney - Rochester Cremation

Robert “Bob” Joseph Brahaney, Irishman, blues enthusiast, and lover of all things “classic” – rock ‘n roll, cars, and values – passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023.  Bob is currently in Heaven, drag racing his 1968 Pontiac GTO, bowling 300’s, and drinking Irish whiskey (neat), although not necessarily simultaneously.  Bob is also taking full advantage of Heaven’s catch and release fishing areas.

Bob is survived by his wife of fifty years, Dorrie.  Love of music and beer, including winning a “twist” competition in the early days, brought them together.  If Bob were still here, he would say his marriage to Dorrie was his life’s greatest blessing (and curse).  The church is considering Dorrie for sainthood based on her devoted care for Bob throughout their marriage, but especially during his profound health struggles in his later years, and his acute illness these past few months.

Heather (Heath) Randell and Heath Brahaney, Bob’s children, will remember their dad as an avid camper, golfer, and clam shucker.  He loved his children the best way he knew how, and really came into his own as “Grandpa” to Charlotte, William, Ava, Emma, and Maddie.  Their laughter, love, and collective shenanigans sustained him, the memories of which will keep them close to their grandpa for as long as they live.

In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family asks that you consider a donation in his name to the Friends of Strong volunteer organization.  Donations can be made online HERE, or mailed to Friends of Strong Memorial Hospital, 601 Elmwood Ave., Box 660, Rochester, NY  14642.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be planned by his family in the coming months, the details of which will be shared at a later date.

My heartfelt condolences to the Brahaney family. I’ve known Bob for several years at bowling at Fairview and Bowl-A-Roll lanes. He always wanted to get his 300 and when he didn’t he was not a happy bowler. We had many discussions about politics and most importantly our families. He was so proud to talk about all of you. Now he will be watching you as he rests with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. He will be missed by all at the bowling alleys. May our Lord comfort you all.

To the entire Brahaney Family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Bob was such a special man and loved his family to no end! I feel I was the lucky one to meet Bob and Dori while I worked at the Fairport Village Inn for 17 years and they became my regulars on Friday nights. Not only my special customers, but family over the years. We shared many memories, good times, and concerning times when Bob was waiting for his transplant. Their family was so strong and supportive of their Husband, Dad, and Grandpa that there was no doubt that everything would go well once the surgery was scheduled.. He stayed so positive through it all with the love from his family especially his beautiful Grandchildren who he just adored. He is at peace now, but will be missed!!!
