ROCHESTER, NY – July 21, 2023 at age 74. Bob is predeceased by his loving wife, Carol, of 53 years; his parents Dolores and Robert; and brother Charles. He is survived by his children: Robert Wegman, IV (Kim Bishop); Debra (Douglas) Moyer; Sandra (David) Loveridge; Katherine (Ryan) Wight; Daniel (Alisha) Wegman; and Steven Wegman; 15 grandchildren; siblings: Lynne (Bob – predeceased) Boprey; Michael (Boonchoo “Sue”); Richard (Beatriz) Wegman; Florence (John) Arnold; Chris (Dan) Wolf; Elizabeth (Joe – predeceased) Dori and many other family and friends.
Bob was a gracious, kind, and generous man of faith who brought people together. He loved his family above everything else.
Born and raised in Rochester, NY, he enjoyed growing up by Lake Ontario and could often be found boating or swimming. After graduating from Edison Tech, he started his career at Kodak and worked hard to support his growing family. He enjoyed landscaping and carpentry, taking pride in building his home in Brockport. After leaving Kodak, he went on to become a bus driver for the Brockport Central School District. He enjoyed driving and interacting with children, teaching many lessons along the way. Perhaps the biggest lessons of all were the ones he taught his own children and those surrounding him during his prolonged and courageous battle following COVID. He had insurmountable patience and welcomed people to learn from him. Most of all he never wanted anyone to look back. He shared his wisdom and encouraged moving forward with positivity and kindness.
The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of support throughout this journey – you are truly a blessing. A mass will be held on Wednesday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 152 Main St., Brockport, NY 14420. Inurnment will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery (Lake Avenue entrance).
Steve & family, sending strength and light to you in the days ahead.
We just heard of your Father’s passing this morning. I am so sorry for your loss. May the Lord give you strength and peace during this difficult time. Your friends Neala Stull and Douglas Cunningham
I’m so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. As a brand new school bus driver, he had so many valuable pearls of wisdom for me and a contagious smile. When we moved to the new bus garage he was a sub driver and was behind me in line for fuel. The personal code I had to start the pump was not working as I had applied to move from my social security number to my employee ID so I called in and they gave me my new code over the air. Later I was called into the office with a question: How did I pump over 100 gallons of fuel into a 65 gallon tank? Bob had thought the new code was universal and used it as well. We laughed about this for a lot of years. Good times. My deepest condolences to your family.
