Robert Silberstein

Robert Silberstein - Rochester Cremation

Robert Silberstein passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023   at age 96. Robert was a devoted husband to his dear wife of nearly 72 years, Lenore and loving father to their three children Bill, Barry, and Caren.  Robert, who was known as Bob, was born in Paterson N.J. on March 20, 1927, to his parents Jack and Belle Silberstein. He attended Eastside High School in Paterson. Upon graduation he attended New York University where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He spent his summers at Camp Wasigan, where he met and fell in love with his future wife Lenore, known to all as Lenny, in 1940. Eventually Bob and Lenny married and settled in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Robert ran Silberstein’s, a successful retail textiles business in Paterson, along with his brother Michael. He served as president of the Paterson Chamber of Commerce. Bob was a wonderful father who enjoyed taking the family on camping trips to Lake George in the summer. Lenny was not as enthusiastic about camping and the whole family remembers that when she finally came on one of the trips, it rained for days. Bob was an avid runner.  His running career culminated in running in and completing three New York City Marathons in the 1980s. After his running career was over, he became a devoted walker in the parks around Bergen County, N.J.

Bob was a great and dedicated father, and a devoted husband to Lenny, who passed away in April of this year. In their final years, they lived together at the Fairport Baptist Home, where they made a formidable pair. Bob will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by sons Bill, Barry and his wife Janice, daughter Caren and her husband Tom, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and sister and brother-in-law Ellen and Ellis Sisskind.

His family greatly appreciates the care that Bob and Lenny received from the staff at the Fairport Baptist Home. Donations in his memory may be made to the Fairport Baptist Home, fairportbaptisthomes.org.
