Pittsford NY: November 30, 2018. At the age of 93, Ruth left this world surrounded by friends and devoted family members. Predeceased by her husband, Arnold Sorensen, and her siblings: Roy (Jeanne) Krautwurst, Homer Krautwurst and Marie “Betty” (William) Naukam. Survived by her children: Linda Sorensen (Allen Glenn), Ingrid (ex. Tom) Hunte, April (Michael) Tracy, Matthew (Theresa) Sorensen, Eva Sorensen (Ken Hall), Jim (Silvia) Sorensen, Glenn Sorensen, 14 grandchildren: Elena Glenn, Anjali Glenn, Laura (Jason) DeGraaff, Lisa (Andrew) Palmer, Sarah (Jay) Jensen, Tanya (Jay) Schrader, Ryan (Amber) Tracy, Rita Sorensen, Jessica (Ames) Martin, Gary Hilley (Faye Hutchins), Luke Sorensen, Rachel Sorensen, Julia Sorensen, Cecilia Sorensen, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was born in Irondequoit, NY. She graduated from West Irondequoit High school and the University of Rochester, majoring in Geology. She met Arnold while working for the USGS in Washington DC and they made their homes in Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland and Colorado before moving back to New York and settling in Webster in 1976. She loved spending time outdoors, entertaining friends and family, gardening, and making her home and yard beautiful. She has had a positive impact on many lives and will be dearly missed. Ruth served in the Webster Village Manor Garden Club, was involved with the Naval Reserve officers club, and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. Over her life she provided meals and hospitality for thousands of people at her homes and at the Elms cottage on Canandaigua lake. She enjoyed cooking for guests on Linda’s charter sailboat and diving around the reefs in the Virgin Islands.

Please join the family in her Memorial Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 31 W Main St, Webster, NY 14580, on Thursday, December 6, at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be directed to the church.
