Scott David Tougas

Scott Tougas - North Chili, NY - Rochester Cremation

Scott David Tougas, age 53, of North Chili, New York passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2022. Scott was born in Massena, New York on May 6, 1969. Scott was the loving father of Scott Tougas Jr. (fiancé Mikala McGarity) and Sydney Tougas, and the loving partner of Rebecca Seed and her children Trevor, Corinne, and Sophia. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Samuel “Sammy” Tougas and parents Wayne & Susan Tougas.

Scott graduated from James E. Sperry High school in Henrietta, New York. Scott has always been creative and he took his passion for making things beautiful by working alongside his brother, Brad, and proudly taught his son, Sammy, the art of painting old homes in the Rochester area, restoring them to their historic glory. He took great pride in his work and was loved by many homeowners, not surprisingly, as he always made a genuinely friendly connection with those he met.

Scott had the most tender and loving heart, and took great care to make sure those he loved knew how he felt about them. His smile filled your soul with happiness and his presence made your heart feel full, safe and so very loved. Scott loved to make people laugh; the kind that made your belly ache and your cheeks hurt until you cried for mercy. He was a kind soul, with a gentle spirit, who touched so many lives. He had a zest and wonderful appreciation for all the little things: sunsets, storms, big billowy clouds, walks by the water or taking a drive listening to his favorite bands. He loved to play guitar, get lost in documentaries, or spend the night in watching a scary movie with his kids. He could always be seen wearing a baseball hat. As his Mom used to say, “He was born with a hat on!” His favorite team was the Canadiens de Montreal, Go Habs!

Scott was a devoted father who never missed an opportunity to say “I love you” to his kids or envelop them in a mushy, beautiful bear hug. He humbled himself to his kids, teaching them that mistakes happen, but we can pick ourselves up again and put every effort into being our best selves, starting with a heartfelt apology and showing we are truly trying to change. He was so proud of the beautiful people his children turned into.

In addition to his cherished son Scotty, and his precious daughter Sydney, Scott is survived by his brother, Brad Tougas, sisters Cheryl (Greg) Wilson, Karen Tougas, Cassi Jo Tougas and former partners Kristen Hunt-Kruger and Darlene Licata-Tougas. He will be greatly missed by his friends and extended family, his loyal fur baby, Webster J. Longfellow III Jr. (Webby) and all those who were blessed to have known him.

No matter the challenges he faced, he was always grateful for each moment we had together. These moments do not end with his passing, he will always be home in our hearts. We find peace in knowing he is reunited with his son Sammy and his Mom and Dad.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 11am. Harvest Bible Fellowship, 1125 Calkins Road, Henrietta, NY.

I’m so surprised by the news and so sad. We grew up together through junior high and high school. Down st was a second home and Wayne and Sue were like aunts and uncles. We loved the classic country. God speed my friend, I’ll see you some other time
