Rochester, NY: Shawna passed on May 28, 2023 at the age of 14. She is survived by her sister, and light of her life, Lennox Semar; Mother Nichole Semar; Grandparents John Semar, and Tammy Litteer; Aunts Carrie Semar-Ohlson, Felicia Semar and Katlyn Ritchey; and other loving family and friends.
Shawna attended school at Burger Junior High, where she was learning to play the violin. She had a love for the video game series Five Nights at Freddy’s, and created many memories with her dearest friend, Elizabeth. She always said that her favorite person in the world was her sister Lennox. Shawna enjoyed reading horror novels, excelled at math, and had a great love for horror films and game series. She was incredibly intelligent, grasping complex card games and video games with ease and quickness. Her wit was unrivaled and her compassion unmatched. If there was an animal around, Shawna was giving it all her love and attention.
Shawna was blessed with many special and close friends and family that cared very deeply for her. Those friends and family would like to thank everyone that donated to her GoFundMe and sent kind words of comfort. These small acts of kindness can and have gone a very long way to help.
Shawna’s calling hours will be held on Friday, June 9th, 3pm to 5pm at Rochester Cremation Event Center, 1118 Long Pond Rd, Rochester NY, 14626. Shawna’s Celebration of Life will begin at 5p.m. Please send any donations or flowers to the same address as well.

I am so saddened to hear of Shawna’s untimely passing. She came into the bank with her grandmother Tammy every once in a while & she was such a sweet & beautiful girl. I wish her loved ones peace during this difficult time.

I wish I would’ve reached out to rekindle the lost friendship when I had a chance, may her beautiful soul rest in peace. Her obituary made me tear up, her goofy smile brought a smile to my face though, I wish peace, health, and happiness to her and her family. her memory lives on in all of us, I hope to be able to send flowers, prayers to everyone mourning this angels passing.
Shawna was such beautiful and loveable little girl . Love her , her mom and her sister so very much . Nikki didn’t deserve to lose her precious daughter. No mother does. Hearing about shawna broke my heart in so many ways ☹️. I just want to be with Nikki and hug her . It hurts losing someone so close to you . I pray for strength and guidance for Nikki and Lennox . I am in deep grief over Shawna’s death. She was one of my chorus students.
I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Shawna. My deepest sympathies to all that had known her and could see her the way I saw her: a sweet intelligent young girl with a genuine curiosity and a great sense of humor. I am blessed for the time that we had together in my Social Studies class.
