Sheila C. Murtha

Sheila Murtha - Fairport, NY - Rochester Cremation

Fairport, NY: April 12th, 2019.  Sheila Carter Murtha, age 75, passed away at home after a long illness.

Sheila was born in Fillmore NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Anita Carter. Predeceased by her husband, Jerry, and son Daniel; siblings: Sherry O’Heron, Sherrill Carter and Michael Carter.

She is survived by her children Scott (Tammi) and Erin (Scott); Grandchildren: Roxanne, Shawn, Adam, Jon, and Rylee; siblings Sandra (Gerry) Grant, Tommie (Brenda) Carter; many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Sheila had many loves: she was an avid reader, loved doing the daily jumble and crossword puzzles, listening to Brother Wease, Elvis Presley, drinking Genny Light and her favorite box wine (not necessarily in that order, depending on the day 🙂 ).

Above all else, she loved her family. She was selfless in every thought and action, thinking and doing for others well before herself, and always for anyone in need.

A special thank you to all of the many doctors, nurses, aides and caregivers along the way. Your compassion and care throughout the years brought much comfort to Sheila and her family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider performing an act of kindness for someone in her memory.

Per Sheila’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or service and a celebration of her life will be planned.

“And now I’m glad I didn’t know the way it would end…the way it would all go

Our lives are better left to chance…

I could have missed the pain, but I’d have had to miss the dance”
