Shelva Wardynski

Shelva Wardynski - Rochester, NY - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY: On December 7, 2020,  Shelva Wardynski, 68, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert Wardynski.  Shelva also had two daughters, Heather Acosta and Stephanie Wardynski, as well as three grandchildren, Rose, Bailey and Allura. Her grandchildren were her world and everything she lived for.  Shelva also had one (very spoiled) cat Cole.

Shelva lived a full and happy life surrounded by her four surviving brothers and sisters as well as a close group of friends, who lovingly called themselves the “Golden Girls.”  She cared most about the moments spent laughing with those she cherished.  She created many special bonds with her “work family” at Excellus Blue Cross and Blue Shield, as well.

Shelva was and will always be a shining example of perseverance and bravery. She looked cancer directly in the eye and fought it with everything that was inside her. She taught us about hope and love even while squeezing our hands for the last time.  For those who knew her, though their eyes may be shedding tears right now, they’re also certainly smiling as they think of some mischievous prank she cooked up.

While there are no services planned currently, we invite you to share your memories of Shelva with us or with each other. We all know it’s what she would have wanted.

Just a Memory Away (a poem in Shelva’s Memory)

I’m no longer by your side,
but there is no need to weep,
    I’ve left sweet recollections,
    I’m hoping you will keep.

    Eternal joy and memories,
    stay in our hearts forever,
    Strengthening our special bond,
    that parting cannot sever.

Now it’s time to journey on,
so let your faith be strong,
    For I am in a better place…..
    I’m home where I belong.

    And if times of loneliness,
    bring sorrow and dismay,
    Don’t despair, for I am there…..
    Just a memory away………

Shelva will be missed by so many and I thank her for letting me be a part of her life! She brought so much laughter to our group and my memories of her will surely make me smile………..
You are all in my prayers & thoughts,
Love, JoAnne (One of the Golden Girls)

Shelva had an infectious smile that will be remembered forever. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a force to be reckoned with, and she instilled that same fierceness in her daughter Heather Christine. Shelva’s legacy lives on in her family and friends alike. 💕💕💕
