Shirley L. Relyea - Attica, NY - Rochester Cremation

Shirley L. Relyea (nee Spring), 76, of Jackson St, Attica, NY, and formerly of Cloisters in Warsaw, passed away peacefully at the Charlotte House in North Java on Saturday, July 3, 2021.

She was born October 4, 1944, in Batavia, the daughter of the late Everett Spring, Elsie (nee Pimm, Spring) and Norman Snyder, and the daughter-in-law to the late Stella (Porter) and Kenneth Relyea.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, William Relyea; her daughter, Sherry Relyea; and grandson, Damien Ortner.  Other loved ones predeceased her are a brother-in-law, Robert Relyea; a sister-in-law, Edna Billings; a niece, Cheryl Billings; and Chris Ortner, whom was like a son.

She is survived by her talented granddaughters, Dominique Ortner of Varysburg, NY and Katrina Ortner of Nashville, TN; adopted son, Will “Eddy” Wallace and partner, Alfred Garriga of Rochester; step sister, Teresa (James) Wright; brother-in-law, Floyd (Reb) Relyea; loving nieces, Patricia Relyea; Marrianne (Dale) Burdin; Nicole (Derek) Piegzik; Susan (Ken) Schwab, Lori (Andy) Wick and close nephews, Ken (Theresa) Relyea and Jim (Lexi) Eddy.  Along with many nieces, nephews (great and great-great) and relatives.

Shirley graduated from Alexander Central School in 1962.  She received an office managerial certificate from GCC, following education was a homemaker, an office clerk of the Western New-Yorker paper in Warsaw, and later a Cleaner at Attica Elementary School for several years.

Shirley had special bonds with many children whom called her “Ma”.  She had an artistic talent, loved to crochet, playing games of Euchre, Mahjong, Skip Bo, and Yahtzee, and lastly simply being around family and friends.

Family and Friends are invited to call from10-11AM at Weeks Funeral Home of 123 North Main St in Warsaw on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, with funeral and burial services immediately following.  Shirley will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery in Attica.
