Suzanne C. Mann

Sue with Flamingos (1)

Rochester NY:  Mann, Suzanne Concetta (nee Palozzi).  November 5, 1949-September 5, 2018.

On Wednesday, September 5, Suzanne “Sue” Mann passed away peacefully, at home, with family by her side. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Joseph and Anna Palozzi, and sister, Marietta Gomes. Sue will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth Mann; daughters, Lena Johnson (Christopher), Sara Hughes, and Rachael Ashby (Robert); grandchildren, Michaela Havens and Jacob Hughes; best friend and “sister,” Ruth Meyer; and many other family members and friends.

A registered nurse by profession, Sue was employed for most of her career by Monroe Community Hospital, supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of patients who had suffered strokes. Outside of work, Sue was just as caring and supportive, opening her heart and home to family, friends, and animals in need. She generously offered whatever was needed- from a cup of coffee and some honest advice, to a place to live for a few weeks or a few years. Mama Sue was always there.

Sue worked hard but also took time to relax and enjoy life. She and Ken traveled often, escaping the frigid Rochester weather for the warm ocean breezes of the Caribbean and enjoying their summer “camp” in the 1000 Islands. She was happiest when surrounded by water, sunshine, and children’s laughter. Mementos of their adventures- colorful fish, flamingos, and photos- line the walls and shelves of the family home.

Sue Mann lived an extraordinary life. She was a collector. Of things, yes, but also of experiences and, especially, of people. Her humor, compassion, and generosity have impacted countless lives and she leaves an enduring legacy through those who knew and loved her.

“Love ya. Mean it. Bye, now.”

Our deepest condolences and sympathy for Ken, Lena, Sara and Rachel.. She will be missed by all, her laughter was infectious and her smile over the top. I will be forever grateful for all that she did to help my daughter Nicole the summer of her 14th year. All our Love – Dale & Annette Curtis
