Rochester NY: Thomas E. Cardillo, 91, passed away on September 16, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Valerie Post Cardillo; his children Thomas (Nance), Linda (McCoy) (Blane), David (Joy), Joseph (Laurie) and Michael (Cathy); 15 grandchildren; and his sisters Francis (Kennedy) and Virginia MacKay. Dr. Cardillo was a board-certified internist and cardiologist. He served in private practice, for industrial medicine as a cardiologist at Eastman Kodak, and as medical director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Rochester Medical School, where he served for 10 years as the head of the heart disease section of the Rochester Regional Medical Program. He was also Director of Cardiology at MCH for 20 years. He retired as the Executive Director of the Monroe County Medical Society, where he served for 14 years. In retirement, he worked as a medical consultant for Harter, Secrest & Emery. Throughout his career, Dr. Cardillo actively engaged in medical, legal, institutional and political development of the health care delivery system. His efforts made a difference for physicians and patients. “Doc,” as he was known by his family and friends, was a devoted husband, father and friend. He will be missed.
