Vicki Young-Rochester Cremation

Vicki L. Young

Vicki (Baker) Young of Pine City, NY, passed away surrounded by loved ones on the evening of May 22, 2024, at Strong Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Chronic Thromboembolic Hypertension (CTEPH) and related challenges.

Vicki is predeceased by her mother, Barbara (Clark) Baker. She is survived by her father, Robert Baker, sister Jill (Dan) Yanchuk, brother Gary (Cyndi) Baker, daughter Piper, and her two beloved Boston Terriers Dash and Flash.

Vicki was born in Troy, Pennsylvania on December 20, 1965. She graduated from Troy High School in 1983 and went on to take coursework at Mansfield University in Mansfield, PA, and Morven Park International Equestrian Center in Leesburg, VA in the following years.

In February of 1988, she entered the U.S. Navy where she served during the Gulf War, and toured several different countries abroad. After an honorable discharge in 1992, she returned home to upstate New York, where she eventually earned an LPN license and began practicing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira, New York. In the early 2000s, she finally settled in Pine City, New York, where she had her daughter and took up many hobbies including gardening around the house, playing ball with her dogs, and visiting with family.

Vicki was a selfless, loving, light-hearted, strong-willed daughter, sister, mother, and friend who will be missed greatly by all. As per Vicki’s wishes, there are no current plans for a funeral service, but we welcome thoughts, prayers, cards, and her personal favorite… pictures.
