Vivian Jantzi

Rochester, NY; Friday, January 15th, 2016 at aged 72 after a heroic battle with cancer. Granny, as she was known, is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Leon. She will be eternally loved and missed by her daughters, Donna (Darren) Pimm and Tracy (Mark) Harter. She is survived by her grandchildren: Sarah, Mia, and Tristan as well as by her great grandson, Ezio. Vivian will be missed by many nieces, nephews, treasured friends and relatives.

Born in Dundee, Scotland, Vivian moved to the United States at the age of 21 where she met the love of her life, Leon, while working at Strong Hospital. They eventually married and settled in Scottsville, NY to raise a family of which she was immensely proud. She enjoyed knitting, hiking, socializing with friends and family, and just being outdoors. Many days were spent among family at Letchworth State Park, one of her favorite places. Possessing an infectious laugh and a warm smile, Vivian was well liked and loved by those who knew her best.

Vivian has gone to her bonny land, her Scotland, her home of green fields and proud peaks. In that memory we sing a traditional Scottish song of homecoming.

Many times in my childhood we’d travel so far

By nightfall how weary I’d grow.

Father’s arms would slip ‘round me and gently he’d say,

“My child, we’re going home.”

Going home, I’m going home.

There is nothing to hold me here.

I got a glimpse of that heavenly land;

Praise God, I am going home.

Now the twilight is fading, the day soon shall end,

I get homesick the farther I roam.

But the Father has blessed me each step of the way, And now I am going home.

Going home, I’m going home.

There is nothing to hold me here.

I caught a glimpse of that heavenly land,

Praise God, we are going home.

Praise God, we are going home.

A celebration of Vivian’s life will be held in the future.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Vivian’s memory to any of the following; Highland Hospital, the Wilmot Cancer Center, or Letchworth State Park.
