Rochester, NY: August 18, 2019. Here lies Warren Clarence Love, a father, an uncle, a son, a brother, a cousin, a grandfather, a 3rd generation grandfather, and a businessman.
Born on the 23rd of January 1943 to Catherine and Willie Clarence Love in Jacksonville Florida, he was the second oldest of 6 siblings. In the early 60’s, Warren relocated to Rochester to pursue a better life. He worked in the fields in the country before, and gained employment doing construction in the city of Rochester. Warren had a strong desire to be his own boss, so he opened his own clothing store and shoe shine parlor, becoming one of the first BLACK OWNED businesses in Rochester.
Warren was very successful and well known throughout the community, and his business would be the place for all men to come and get their clothing, whether for work, church, or a night out on the town. If you needed to get your STACY ADAMS shined – you came to see “LOVE”.
Warren fathered 11 children (you will know them by what we called them every day): Walley, Tee, Deb’rann, Doley, Tangie, Tubby, Tiggie, Bill, Randy, Ronnie, and Curtis. Also leaving a brother; Bobby Love, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and great great great grandchildren…
