Derek, Mia and Mariel,
I am so sorry to hear about Wendal. She was such a dear friend with a gentle spirit and always that smile. I’ve known her since MCH days and really cherished our friendship. I will miss my coffee dates with her.
My thoughts and prayers to you and the extended family as well.
Wendal was one of the most wonderful people I’ve known. Thirty-five years, many adventures, many laughs, and times together. I will miss you terribly.
Derek, Nia & Mariel – we are so very sorry for your loss. Wendal was so sweet to everyone. We have such fond memories of being with you guys. She will be dearly missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers. With sincere sympathy: Bob &Terri Craig
Dear Derek, Nia, and Mariel, I’m so sorry to hear about Wendal’s passing. Although it’s been many years since we last communicated, I can never forget the beautiful summer day in 1969 downtown Edinburgh Scotland, when she spotted the man she would marry. It was love at first sight. Since there was a large convention in town, we could not find a hotel room. She asked me to ask “that cute guy over there” if he knew of anything perhaps in the outskirts. I replied, “no, you ask him”, she said “I’m too shy because he’s too cute”. It seems like a lifetime ago but the conversation is as clear as yesterday. Although cut way too short, it’s wonderful knowing you had a beautiful life together. Since we live in Florida, I will not be attending the calling hours, but my heart is with all of you in this time of sorrow. May God bless all of you.
Derek, Nia & Mariel,
What a Beautiful picture of our dearest Wendal.
She was in the hearts of many people. We have
A lifetime of memories, including St. ABBS. may your
Life long memories carry your family through this difficult time.
Dear Derek, Nia, and Mariel,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Wendal. She was a great friend of my mom (and dad!) for so many years. Derek, you and Wendal are part of some of my earliest memories. Looking back, I think I learned a lot about friendship just from watching the time that you and my parents spent together. Too many fond memories of Wendal to rehearse here, but probably my favorite was when she took me to Toronto for my 13th birthday. She was a wonderful person and I won’t forget her. I’ll be praying for all of you during these difficult times. Love to the family,
Adam
I m so sorry to here of Wendals passing. I grew up down the street from her and was good friend’s with the Bumpus’ fir a very long time. My deepepest condolences.
Derek , Nia , and Mariel … ssooo sorry to hear about Wendel (Lynn’s)passing . Have not heard any news about her in yrs . I’ve literally know her our whole life as Mom and Jean gave birth to us on the same day at the same hospital , and we grew up 4 houses apart . She was a great friend and it’s just sad news . God speed to all of you and know you had the presence/privilege of a really great person .
Wendel was so gentle, and also so strong. I first met her in Pilates classes, where she so impressed me with her physical strength. Then, as she endured one health challenge after another over the past several years, she impressed me with her emotional strength. I last saw Wendel in December. At that moment, she was feeling well, looking well, thinking about the future. I can still see her, and hear her, so clearly: she sat with me in my living room, wearing a gorgeous sweater, her lovely smile, her amazing red hair. That is how I will remember her. I will miss her very much.
Derek, Nia and Mariel,
I’m shocked and so sorry to hear about Wendell…we met years ago at Midtown, both being on the slightly “obsessive” side, when it came to exercise…after seeing each other there so often, I think our friendship started before we even really spoke…she was so warm and friendly, with that wonderfully dry sense of humor…it wasn’t under later we realized our kids had been in the same class at Brighton…the occasional coffee & texts, it was an easy connection…she was one of those people who made you feel better just by knowing her…it’s amazing how big the hole someone who you might not think of everyday, can make in your life…
Dear Derek, Mia, & Mariel,
I am so sorry to hear about Wendell ( Linda)
She was part of our childhood and neighborhood on North Avenue. We all had so much fun playing hide and seek, kickball, and so much more.
She was competitive and so smart. I remember the countless number of hours she would spend studying to work in the medical field … and she made the world a better place.
She was loved by everyone whose life she touched.
Her mom was my mom’s most beloved friend.
I remember Linda was so much like Jean.
She was loved by everyone who met her.
May your memories comfort you until you are all together again 💞.
God Bless that Little Red Haired Girl 🙏.
Dear Derek,
David told me this sad news about Wendell. Even though it’s been years since we last saw the two of you (in Ottawa I think … 1980?) we’ve never forgotten the fun that we had. We kept up on your news and heard about your daughters and their amazing accomplishments. And all of Wendell’s and yours as well.
Mike and I send our deepest condolences.
Derek, Nia, & Mariel,
I am so sorry for this tragic loss! While I have fond memories of Wendal taking me to do things like a vacation to Hershey Park to see where the Chocolate is made, or Ice Skating in downtown Rochester, my favorite memories are simply of her kindness, gentleness, and the comfort I always felt in her presence. I loved her laugh, and any time our families were together, there was a jovial mood amongst all!
I treasure the beautiful serving platter she and Derek bought for me as a housewarming present when I purchased my first home. I use it constantly when entertaining and still think of her each and every time!
I have never known life without Wendal a part of it – she will be greatly missed by all!
So very saddened to hear of Wendell’s passing, she meant so much to me in my younger days when we where in high school and college, though we went different ways her vibrant and wonderful personality left a indelible impression. My condolences to Derek and family on losing beautiful Wendell.
