Yvonne E. Watkins

YVONNE E WATKINS - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY: January 22, 2024 at age 77.

Yvonne was born February 9, 1946, in Fulton, NY and is predeceased by her parents, Angela (“Ann”) Russo Arcidiacono and Salvatore (“Sam”) Arcidiacono.

She graduated from Fulton High School in 1964. She then graduated from Bowling Green State University, Ohio with a degree in English and Drama.  Yvonne taught English and Drama at Pine Bush NY high school for several years.  Known as a tough but caring teacher, she also directed the high school drama presentations. She received a Master’s degree as well as a School Administration Certificate from SUNY New Paltz.  At that time, she began advancing her career as a school administrator, serving in schools outside of the Binghamton and Syracuse areas, and then moving on to Superintendencies in Norwood/Norfolk and Geneseo, NY. During this time, she pursued a doctoral degree in education from the University of Sarasota. Yvonne retired from the Geneseo School District in 2001.

She is survived by her dear friend/family caregiver of 23 years, 5 cousins, and was blessed with several very close friends! Yvonne was a world traveller, enjoyed and collected angels, and loved watching the cardinals and gold finches out her bird window. She loved to read non-fiction, do crosswords, was an artist, and adored her cat, Peppy.  Although she spent many years disabled, we all made sure she had a good, happy life.  We lost her to respiratory failure, as a complication of the flu.  She was  an amazing, warm, caring person, who always shared her wisdom and support for others!

Yvonne’s memorial service will take place on Saturday May 25, 2024 at 11:00am at Ascension Garden (chapel) 1900 Pinnacle Rd, Henrietta, NY 14467. An informal celebration of her life will follow.
