Penfield – Passed away peacefully on June 25 at the age of 90. Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rosamond; three devoted daughters, Lani Ann (Stephen) Lally, Kathleen Hoffman, and Bonnie Jean Vancheri; two adoring grandsons, the “apples of his eye,” Michael and Marc; brother Louis; several nieces and nephews.
After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Leonard was one of the youngest real estate agents in NYS to receive a broker’s license. His career spanned over 40 years as a successful building materials salesman and home building consultant in the Rochester/Monroe County area. In his spare time Leonard enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and Biddy Basketball in the Town of Irondequoit.
He was a talented writer shown in his collection of childhood memoirs in Pennsylvania and family anecdotes which have been printed into book form. One of his poems is published in the America at the Millennium found on poetry.com. Cooking was a passion and the gourmet meals created were shared with friends, especially on Sunday for his traditional sauce.
Through his actions, he taught his grandsons what the virtues of dedication and loyalty mean in life. His family will miss his unconditional love, incredible wit, and heart of gold.
A private family service will be held on July 4, 2020.
I am a friend of Bonnie. I am so sorry for your loss. Bonnie has shared so many wonderful things about her Dad with me. I hope knowing that friends are thinking of you during this time will ease the pain. May his memory be a blessing.
With sympathy,
Phyllis Miller Palombi

I was extremely fortunate to have Len as my lumber salesman at Ridge lumber for over 30 years! He was the without a doubt, the best in his field. I suspect he was outstanding in every aspect of his life. We were more of a team than a typical salesman/ builder relationship. He was a mentor and great friend. I think of him often. My deepest sympathies to the Vancheri Family. Take comfort in the knowledge that God has a special place for people like Len. Farewell my Friend.
