Alison Briggs Birkemeier Sasiadek. 81, died on January 10, 2021 at her home in Henrietta, NY.
The daughter of Grace and Alfred Briggs, she was born in Buffalo NY. She earned her Batchelor and Master of Science degrees at NYS University College at Buffalo, and upon graduation, served as a social worker in Buffalo and later as a reading teacher in the Buffalo public schools. An accomplished horsewoman, Alison for many summers was head riding instructor at the Sprucelands Camp in Java Center, NY, sharing her skills and love of riding with many campers each season. In addition, she trained certified therapy dogs and visited local nursing homes with them.
She is survived by a brother, Sherwood Briggs, nephews Joseph, Jonathan, Matthew, and Adam Briggs, a niece, Elizabeth Briggs, stepson Roy Sasiadek, stepdaughters Amy Sasiadek Claire Young, and Juliet Maloney, and dear friend Deborah Barsel.
She was predeceased by brothers Alan and Geoffrey Briggs, and by her husbands Bernard Birkemeier and Edwin Sasiadek.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date when we can all gather again safely. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genesee County Animal Shelter in Batavia, NY.
