Frank Charles Mangefrida, 70 years old originally from LeRoy, NY and currently of Rochester, NY passed into his Fathers arms on Saturday, March 26 after a lengthy illness. He was employed by The University of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics as the Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the development of The Omega Laser Alternate Energy Source. He was a loyal husband of 54 years to Maria, loving Father to Bethany and Benjamin, and adoring Papa to Amelia, Maximilian, and Logan.
He exemplified the spirit of loyalty, giving, forgiveness, and love. He was a dedicated servant who brought comfort, support, and laughter to every person with whom he crossed paths. His strength, compassion, humor, and desire to bring a smile to your face are what defined him. We thank him for his unconditional love and his unwavering loyalty.
Mason and I send our most heartfelt condolences to all of you. Prayers for strength and peace. Frankie, rest easy. Debbie Meli, Mason Tyler ♥️

My deepest sympathies to the family for the loss of Frank. Spent my High School years in classes and sports with him, and thought of him often over the years since then. Wish I had been able to see him after we graduated, but I moved away and didn’t consistently attend reunions. Always a friendly smile, Frank was a great person to be around.

Frank was a wonderful person who lived with his illness in a manner that allowed him to remain the kind, funny, and caring Frank he always was. With Maria by his side they made a loving life together. He will be missed by all who knew him.
So glad to see him at the wrestling reunion a few years ago. A wonderful person for certain. My prayers and condolences to his family.
Used to have a great time with Frank during high school and at “The Summer House” Sorry for your lose he was a great guy.
Dear Maria and family,
You have our deepest sympathy, love and blessings, in the passing of Cousin Frank.
So many fun memories of remembering his high school days with my Brother; coming to our house and friends piling into Mike’s tiny Volkswagen!
You and the kids must have so many beautiful memories to cherish, also, and wonderful stories.
God bless you all. You are always in my thoughts and prayers..
I will never forget Frank’s great sense of humor!
Love Ya’
I was always so touched in seeing the love and attention Frank gave his grandchildren, and they responded in kind. I didn’t realize Maria and Frank were married for 54 years since Bethany is so much younger. No wonder Maria and Frank were so devoted to each other! They found each other very early in their lives. Frank will be very missed by his family and friends. I’m so glad he got to know his grandchildren well. They always looked forward to visiting, so I know Amelia and Max enjoyed their time with Frank and Maria.
I worked closely with Frank at the U of R Laser Lab. His friendliness and kindness made him approachable as a shy student just starting my career; we had lots of laughs together. As I got to know him, we also had many conversations about subjects besides work. He lived next to my brother-in-law at the time, and I also saw him outside of work. I have fond memories of Frank that have stayed with me over the years; I’m sure many people who worked with Frank have fond memories of him as well. He was a fine person and will be missed.
I started working with Frank in the late 80’s at LLE. He became a great friends and he taught me a great deal about designing and drafting. But most importantly, he helped me to see that things out of your control are not worth getting upset about. In fact, he always had a way to make me laugh at just about any situation. It was a sad day when Frank had to stop working but my memories of our time together have not faded. Rest in Peace old friend and my condolences to all who knew and loved him.

David and I were so sorry to hear of Frank’s passing.
His was quite a journey and, as Jean said, he traveled it with extraordinary grace.
Maria, your caregiving was pretty extraordinary, too. Not too many could do what you did. I am in awe.
The present and future must feel very strange, but I hope you’ll be at peace, knowing that he finally is.
Dear Chuck and family. So sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Frank but, he certainly was loved by a lot of friends and family. Prayers to you and your family.
