Marilyn Sue Osman (Hise)

October 28, 1941-October 6, 2022

Our dear mother Marilyn Sue Osman (Hise), 80 years old of Penfield New York, passed away quietly, comforted, and surrounded by family on October 6, 2022. Preceded in death by both her parents Marguerite and Judson Hise, brothers Jim, John, Ron, Phil, Dick, and Bruce Hise.

Her spirit is carried on by her three daughters Michelle Osman, Melissa Strollo (Frank), Christine Catalano (Kurt), and son Matthew Osman (Jaye). She also leaves behind her three siblings Duane and Reginald Hise, and Roberta Daycock.

Of all the names she was known by; Mom, Sister, Aunt, In-law, or friend, the one she earned and was most rewarded with being called was Grandma or Gigi. The greatest of her love in life was dedicated to caring for and nurturing her twenty-one grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could see her eyes and smile widen when seeing the children and hearing them shout out, “Gigi!” Her grandchildren are Justine Restrick (Chad), Joseph Messmer, Mark (Cassie), Nick (Alicia), and Erica Schrom; Connor, Keegan (Mackenzie), Tyler, and Kyle Catalano; Tarina Cadet (Regi), and Eliana Osman. Her grandchildren feel blessed to have shared so many wonderful years of love and closeness with her and we find comfort in the memories they created together. Her great-grandchildren are Cason, Harper, Jackson, Mason, Morgan, Emilia, Lucas, Quinn, Zion, and Persephoni. There was no activity with them she would consider too much or out-of-bounds. From playing with dolls, trucks, building sandcastles, painting, and crafts she was the best play date. Or countless hours of baby-sitting, stroller-pushing, feeding, caring for their cuts, scrapes, or even mending broken-hearts of all the generations of our family. These were her specialties. She had an amazing talent to make all things better. The gift she gave of her love and heart to our family is what all of us will miss most as these were the things that brought her so much joy.

Marilyn retired from a 30-year career from Delco Products and Valeo Inc. serving in many positions within the union. She always considered herself lucky to be able to work and provide for her family, all due to her hard work and dedication. She made countless friends while there who would enjoy each other’s company both at work and at the many ball games, cookouts, or golf outings outside of work hours.

In retirement, she really enjoyed trips with friends or family. Whether flying, riding with her children, or cross-country car trips with her dear friends Grant and Linda, we could always find her upon arrival at her destination rolling up her sleeves to enjoy the sun on a patio, poolside, or slipping her toes in the sand on a wonderful beach. She raised her children to value the love and trust of a tight family dedicated to one another and continuing the legacy of the bi-annual family reunion. She especially loved helping to plan, coordinate, and attend family events, parties, and celebrations of any kind which would result in her entire extended family being together.

At the family’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, we know Marilyn would ask that as each of you gather closely with your families, you recount the blessings that close family relationships bring. Laugh, take pictures, and print some of those photos to share with the children so that someday they can see themselves surrounded by laughter and love of family and the fun they had when gathered together.
