C. Walter Ries, Jr.

C. Walter Ries, Jr. - Rochester Cremation

C. Walter Ries, Jr., 82, of Webster, NY, passed on December 6, 2023 peacefully at home after a long journey with prostate cancer. He is predeceased by his parents, C. Walter and Rosemarie, of Chicago, Illinois. He leaves behind his wife, Donna, children Diana and David (Carolina and their three young daughters), sister Rosemary, his ex-wife, Rosanne, and their daughter, Gayta (Robert, and son Alex) of California.

Some of Walt’s greatest loves were telling stories of his youth, fishing, skiing and boating. He had so many treasured experiences with friends in the Huggers Ski Club, as well as heart-felt connections with colleagues and clients throughout his career. Walt was known for his parties and cooking. And, so, there will be a celebration of his life, Walt style, at the Webster Arboretum on Thursday, June 13, 4-7pm for family and friends. One of Walt’s last desires was sending donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. The family would appreciate an RSVP if planning to join the celebration on June 13th.

It is with surprise and sadness that I read of Walt’s passing this morning, 2/9/24. He was a co-worker at Brighton Securities.
I hope the Lord brings peace to his family and guides them going forward. Having become a recent widow myself, I hope
Donna and Walt had things in order for ease of transition. My sincere best wishes.

    C. Walter Ries, A life well lived. Over the span of our thirty five year friendship I was able to watch Walter from being co-workers, his landlord kindness to all of those who were his tenants as well as the person they relied on to assist when they were in need. The sailer Walt, ski instructer all around good guy and great friend. Until we meet again.
    Miss you, Jeff

It was only today that I learned of Walt’s passing. My deepest sympathy to Donna and to all of his family.
He was an example of grace, courage and human warmth that is too infrequently seen. He certainly will be missed..

      Dr. Nazar,
Thank you for all your support as Walt’s health continued to decline. It was a tough journey. However, being in home hospice his last 2 months gave us the opportunity to fulfill many special wishes along with cherished moments together.
      Donna
