James Sylvester Monroe (Jimmy) passed away on July 28, 2024, at the age of 92 in Fairport, NY. He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Ann Marie Battaglia Monroe, and their son, James “Jimmy” Monroe.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Christine Costanzo and Ann Marie Monroe-Licata (spouse Lauren Licata), along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his faithful companion, Bandit.
Jimmy was a dedicated member of the Roc City Mustangz club, indulging in his passion for Mustang cars. He found joy in crafting wooden lamps and other woodworking projects. A loyal supporter of the Buffalo Bills, he cheered for his team with unwavering enthusiasm.
Throughout his life, Jimmy held various roles, including driving tractor trailers for Kodak, working at the 7-Up bottling Company in Norfolk, Virginia during the 70s, and later engaging in security positions during his retirement years.
He served his country honorably, enlisting in the army on January 11, 1949, and rising to the rank of corporal during the Korean War era, serving until February 12, 1952.
A small graveside service prayer will be held on August 17 at 12 PM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Those attending are requested to gather at 2301 Dewey Avenue entrance to pay their final respects to a remarkable man who touched the lives of many with his kindness and dedication.
Ann and Lauren, we are so sorry for your loss of your father, and father in law, he was a very special man, and he will be missed by many.. he is now out of pain and at peace with your mother. He really lived many years, and had a good life. Amen
