Carol Ann Turner, age 81, passed suddenly and peacefully on September 15th, 2024. She was surrounded by family.
She is predeceased by her mother, Ethel Stilwell, her father Lyle Stilwell, and brother Tom Stilwell. She is survived by her loving husband, Walter Turner, her stepson Scott Turner (Paola), son Daniel Turner (Raina Sulzbach), daughters Julie Rich (Alan), Leslie Ameduri (Michael), Tori Daley (Garfield); grandchildren Andrew, Dylan, Averi, Emily, Madeline, Hannah, Nathan, Mckenna, Lucus, Kiley, Vanessa, and Preston; great-grandchildren Athen, Halen, Joshua, and Marley, as well as many close friends and relatives.
Carol was a lifelong resident of the village of Fairport. She and her best friend/husband Walt worked side by side for many years renovating their beautiful historic home from floor to ceiling, and inside and out. They were proudly a part of the Village’s Showcase of Homes in the 90s, where they enjoyed decorating the home for “Christmas in July” to welcome residents for tours.
She had a passion for gardening, antiquing, quilting (by hand), researching family history, cooking, and baking. She was known for her amazing cookies and pies.
She worked as a hairstylist and owned her own salon for over 20 years. In the late 80s she opened an in-home daycare, where she became affectionately known as “Mommy Ner-ner”. They happily cared for many families over the years, often welcoming “the daycare kids” into their home before the sun was up and sometimes hugging them goodnight with hot meals for their parents to take home at the end of a long day. Being able to care for so many children and their families provided her with tremendous joy. She was unable to sit and rest if anyone she knew was hungry, or needed anything, including sound advice.
In lieu of flowers send donations to the Perinton Food Shelf or the UR Medicine Comprehensive Stroke Center. A ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11 am at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, New York 14534.
So sorry for your loss. The few times I met her, she was sweet and always smiling. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Carol was a constant loving, caring and positive influence in both the kids and my life. We often talk about her at family gatherings and I still make some of her wonderful recipes she was always willing to share. We are so grateful to have had her in our lives long after our daycare years were over. We will carry our most recent dinner together in our hearts forever.
Love kerry, Connor, Colin and Hannah
My wife, my partner in all things. We met in high school, she was 14 and I was 16. We went to my junior prom at JP. We went our separate ways for several years. After re uniting , wie had 52 wonderful years together I am honored with her memory.
What a great lady Carol was. She always was there for her family or those in need. I have many good memories of time spent with her alone and with family. My heart is broken for my brother and their family. I understand what they are going through and there is little that can be done to ease their sorrow except to be there for them. Carol will be so very much missed.
Love and hugs to the family.
Mom taught us so much; she was the strongest person I’ve ever met and had an amazing work ethic. She was a force of nature. She also had a huge heart and took it upon herself to worry about and take care of everybody. The one thing she couldn’t seem to do was rest.
Thank you for all you’ve done for all of us, especially your kids. It’s finally time to rest now, Mom. We love you so much.
My loving memory of mommy ner-ner is when I was young and the bus dropped me off on the corner of her street rather than in front of her house. I can still remember her screaming at the bus driver as he drove by because she was so protective of my well being that it upset her. I had never seen her that upset, it stays with me because it shows how much she truly loved me.
Tori and Katrina were best buddies for their entire time in school together. The only home she would stay over night in was Carol’s and Walt’s home. That was because of Carol’ loving nature. I had many brief happy moments with Carol when I came to pick up Katrina. I have a wonderful sour cream cookie recipe from her that I just love. I will be out of town for her memorial service
But she will be in my heart.
Too often we don’t appreciate how much someone means to us until it is too late. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case with Carol and I. From our early childhood, then teen years and on we were close although later separated by distances as we raised our families. We could share anything and her wise counsel made me a better person. In more recent times we looked forward to a quiet dinner out with her and Walt. Catching up only took a few moments. Rest in peace until we are once again able to share each other’s company..
My beautiful second Mom, I will love you for the rest of my life and Emily and Maddie were so blessed to have you as Nana Turner. So much you taught me- how to decorate and cook. I’m saving all your recipes to pass down to the girls. Rest in peace, have a coffee with Olivia 😘💕💕🙏🙏🙏🥲😇
Mommy Ner-ner loved my brothers and I like we were her own. I will forever carry the love and support she showed me everyday for the rest of my life. She wanted nothing but the best for me, and she always pushed me to be nothing less.
