John Joseph Putnam (JJ) of Manlius, NY, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born April 15, 1931 to Mary (Cronin) and Frank L. Putnam in Glens Falls, NY, John was a Purple Heart Marine and veteran of the Korean War. He then went on to graduate from Albany College of Pharmacy and became partner/owner of Sixty Now Pharmacies in Syracuse, NY. John was known for his deep faith, kindness, humor, strategic card playing, and backhand slice across the ping pong table or tennis court when playing against his daughters. John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 65 years, Nancy (Weindorf) Putnam and his five daughters, Nancy, Laurie (Tim Hogan), Christy (Bruce Berdan), Holly (Mike Murphy) and Amy (Dan Pellegrino) as well as his nine grandchildren, Katie, Matthew, Julia, Erin, Abby, Freddy, Michael, Colie, and Michael. A private family service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, NY, on November 30, 2024.
Our thoughts wander back to remembering John Putnam (aka “JJ”) as a kind, thoughtful and good humored man who loved his family with all his heart. My sister, Nancy (Weindorf) became his wife on October 31, 1959 and he became a welcome member of our family. John and Nancy went on to gift us with five wonderful, beautiful (inside and out) daughters who brought great joy to us. In addition, these girls grew up and happily gave us nine great nieces and nephews. The Putnam girls knew how to parent because they learned to do so from their dad and mom. We’ll all miss you, John, and know that you experienced a well-lived life.
Thank you so much, Aunt Holly and Uncle Chuck, for your kind and loving words…it means the world to us!! We love you and miss you both!! XOXO Love, Christy
