Fischer, Robert F.
Hilton, New York, Age 88 (born April 14, 1929)
Robert passed away gently on June 12, 2017, leaving this earthly world behind him. A life-long resident of Syracuse, he moved to Hilton, NY late in his life to be closer to his family. Robert was a 1947 graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School and attended LeMoyne College until enlisting in the Navy. Robert served in active duty in the Korean theatre of war as well as multiple other services on a variety of ships traveling throughout the world. After leaving the service, Robert worked at the Marcellus Casket Company in Syracuse for decades and then joined the H&R Block Income Tax Team during his “retirement years,” finally stepping down in his mid 80’s.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Bernice (Stawasz) Fischer; his loving wife, Rosemary (Klensk) Fischer; his sister, Mary Jane (Ranger) Fischer; eldest son Robert C. Fischer; and beloved daughter-in-law Diana (Stevens) Fischer.
Survivors include son Michael D. Fischer; grandchildren Robert O. Fischer and his wife Jennifer, Dr. Sarah Hope (Fischer) Croneis and her husband Adam, and SGT John F. Fischer and his wife Christina; and, great-grandchildren William Kyle, Kristopher Michael, Elizabeth Carmen, Madelyn Nicole, and Bailey Rose. Also surviving are brothers-in-law Richard P. Miori and Stanley Waskiewicz, daughter-in-law Heidi (Ritter) Fischer, and a myriad of nieces and nephews.
To respect Robert’s last wishes, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held privately at the discretion of the family. Until their later years, Robert and Rosemary cared for several loving and loyal pets. Consequently, those wishing to memorialize Robert are encouraged to do so by donating to Lollypop Farm, PO Box 92297, Rochester, NY 14692 or any local animal shelter.
