Canandaigua, NY: Rochester – Arsen Machuhovsky 74, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018. The only child of Mykola and Larisa Machuhovsky, originally from Kiev Ukraine, he was born in Berlin, Germany on10/13/1943. Arsen graduated from Olney High school, Philadelphia PA in 1962 and then served in the United States Air Force until 1970. His service included 18 months of combat in Vietnam. Arsen and his family moved to Rochester NY where he started his 28 year career at Kodak.
Arsen, a creative and critical thinker, would never let anyone fall into complacency with his seemly endless and effortless stream of pop quizzes that ranged from the order of the American Presidents to the influence of religion on culture. Arsen was a brilliant and humble man and a genuinely lighthearted stoic. He embodied courage, strength and the value of fatherhood and family. The predominant memories of the mirthful and hilarious way he touched our hearts will live on in the stories we share.
Arsen is predeceased by his parents Mykola and Larisa Machuhovsky and his daughter Sharon Amico. He is survived by his former wife and friend Sandra Hilderman, daughter Michelle Lathrop, grandchildren Nicholas A. Lathrop, Christopher D. Lathrop, Robert G. Amico, Lauren M. Amico and many close friends and extended family.
Honoring his wishes there are no calling hours. A celebration of his life will take place at a future date yet to be determined.
