I loved Dan’s presence, his smile, his caring nature. I knew him as a person always trying to help those around him in a quiet, unobtrusive way. It is obvious he will be sorely missed, and the face of time will take it’ toll. We all feel in our hearts that a good man has just left us for better pastures, and we all needed him to stick around longer….but one of the reasons I appreciated him so much was that he exuded a deep knowing of what lies ahead; that he has now forged onward to make way for all of us.
Dear Megan and family,
That summer that I worked for your Dad has always been a treasure in my memory. He certainly is a peaceful man and exudes kindness always. I thank you for the opportunity to have gotten to know him and be positively affected by his goodness.
Peace & Blessings to you & your family.
Gaylene
Dan! One of the most gentle, centered, patient, spiritually grounded and ego-less beings I’ve ever known. He embodied deep wisdom, and lived from that place. It feels like he is still here among us, and I am so grateful to count myself as one of his friends in life. He “did his work” in this lifetime. His spirit lives on, as he soars on the wings of freedom!
Dan, I didn’t know you well but your spirit was always so Loving and Peaceful and Gentle! You will be Greatly missed but we all know that your Spirit lives on in all the hearts of those you touched! Honored for the time we had together! <3
I met Dan and Birgith on a trip to Arunachala, India in 2013. I loved getting to know them both. Dan held space for kindness and intently listened with such warmth. It was a difficult moment in my life and I appreciated Dan’s warmth and kindness. The world was definitely better for him having shined his life with me and others. Rest in peace and love.
Dearest Birgith, Alecia and Pete, Lindsay, Gordon, and Everett, Megan and Judd, and Kalika,
There are no words to express our deep sorrow to each of you. We will each experience Danny’s loss in a myriad of ways. Ernie and I are grateful we could all be together during this time. I missed my brother living so far away. I can’t believe how much more I long to see him. I know he is with me and I will wait for my lessons from him. Our love and prayers to each of you, always. We are always here for you.
All our love and prayers,
Ernie and Kathie
Dan was a great man. Such kindness. Such light. That smile. My condolences to his family, whom I love dearly, and all those that knew him best. While heartbreaking for all of us left here without him, let there be comfort knowing his journey is far from over…
Worked with Dan at ARKEMA.
Condolences to his friends and family.
Dan set a loving example by how he lived as well as how he died. We sense that he is has just turned the corner into a dimension from which he can still be present to continue to assist in our healing work.
So so so sorry for your loss!!!!!
You are and will always be remembered … Your radiant Spirit, Thirst for knowledge, love for sharing, helping others, always smiling! Much love to you Dan… You are one of the most special individuals I have ever known! Rest in the arms of love and peace my friend.
Love to you forever,
Sheryl
I’m deeply saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. He really was a gentle, peaceful spirit with an understanding of what truly mattered. Our paths crossed from time to time at Teresa House where working with him was always enjoyable. I will miss hearing his insights and his laughter. Although I didn’t know him well, my world feels a bit dimmer knowing he’s no longer here. May all who loved him find comfort and peace.
Megan and Family, We cannot tell you how sorry we are to hear of Dan’s passing. It was a complete shock when I read the notice from Teresa House. I saw him in November just before we left for Florida for the winter and he told me about moving to Rochester. I will always remember you and your dad opening up your house for my friend David Parhalo who used to live there so that he could walk through and go down memory lane once more. Dan was a great man and I will always remember our long talks during volunteer time at Teresa House. With our sympathy, Bob and Mary Schiltz
I worked with Dan at ARKEMA in Geneseo for a number of years. It was a pleasure to work with him. I was sorry to hear of his passing.
Reading the notice of Dan’s passing
Brought tears to my eyes. I am a volunteer
At Teresa House and I loved my shifts
With Dan. I have known Dan for 14 years.
His smile and gentle caring ways made him so valuable to Teresa House. I tried to visit him but it was family only.
My heartfelt sympathy to all of Dan’s
Friends and family. I will miss him so very much.
I only volunteered with Dan a few times but I could tell he was a wonderful caring person. My deepest condolences for your loss. He will be missed.
I work at Arkema and knew Dan! Always a smile, such a good person! We all had so much fun whitewater rafting with our co-workers that spring, years ago, he was a blast!! His face could turn red at the drop of a hat! So sorry to loose this gentle soul so young!
Dan & I worked at Arkema for many years. I am saddened by his passing . Please accept my condolences.
Dan, you were one of the original people in Rochester who first welcomed me here way back in 2002 when I lived in Buffalo. Now a beautiful, heartfelt sangra has grown from that welcome, and you have been cental in that family. You have been my wingman since the beginning, always, always being there for me. Your selfless service, generous heart and gentle spirit proceeds you, and i miss you dearly.
I join you both here and in the light,
Your soul brother Ramana
You will be missed, Dan. Would have loved to see you in Prague. With love, Dhyani, Mirek & Josho
I’m one of Dan’s “countless” friends. I worked with/around him for over 20 years and loved the guy. Always full of humor in most any situation. I’m sure he will be greatly missed by those closest to him. I missed him after he retired and more so now that he’s not physically here. Earth is a poorer place without you. Godspeed Dan.
In unseren Herzen nie vergessen
I grew up with Dan, 4 houses away on Fontaine dr., in Cheektowaga Ny. I’m 66 he would be 67. I haven’t seen Him in about 45 years, but I recognize Him in the picture here. When I knew Him He played the saxophone in the HS band, adored animals, and had visions of becoming a veterinarian. I remember He worked for the railroad. He had kind and loving Parents, and Kathy was also wonderful. His dad was a volunteer fireman. Dan kind of disappeared from the neighborhood in High School and became close friends with piers at the the Polish Catholic National Church on the East side of Buffalo. However I did run into Him here and there during leave at home when i was in the Navy. My condolences to you!! Tell me what affliction caused his passing if you are comfortable with that. He died too soon, and too young.

Kathy,
Just found out about Dan’s passing yesterday. My condolences to you, your Mom and all of Dan’s family. Living in New England I never had the opportunity to meet any of Dan’s family. I remember all the good times we had together in Youth Club, Scranton, Spojnia Farm, etc. Dan had a wonderful sense of humor and was just a fun person to be around. He was also very kind, gentle and caring.
May he rest in peace forever more.
Jack
I am happy that Dan enriched so many people with his presence, his beautiful and gentle soul, and I am so glad that he became life-partner of my beloved friend Birgith, as well as friend and step-father to Kalika. Mirek, Josho and I will be with you in thought, and send all our love to the celebration. ***
Das schönste, was ein Mensch hinterlassen kann, ist ein Lächeln im Gesicht derjenigen, die an ihn denken.
– Es war schön, dass wir Daniel kennen lernen konnten –
Liebe Birgith, lieber Kalika,
wir sind mit unseren Herzen und in Gedanken bei euch – alles Liebe
