Phyllis Robertson - Greece, NY - Rochester Cremation

Greece, NY:  Phyllis Smith Robertson passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019, surrounded by her family.  Predeceased by her husband Bates, her sister Virginia Hartman, and her son-in-law Don Cole.  Survived by her children Linda Cole, Debbie (Chris) Larsen, Rob (Sharon) Robertson, Denise Miller (Jeff Zeh), Pam (Doug) Dale, Bill Robertson (Dee Kreger).  Grandchildren Liz (Chris) Mistretta, Jessica (Brian) Turpyn, Jon (Karina) Robertson, Tamara (Josh) Munson, Melissa (Heath) Elwell, Chris (Gina) Larsen, Jennifer Johnson, Todd (Trish) Larsen, Ron Sowinski, Dawn (David) Parsons, Sara Dool.  Sister-in-law Barbara Himes, cousins Betty Shean and Lois Murtha, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was born in Rochester on June 18, 1927 to Jesse and Emma Smith.  She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1945 and married Earl (Bates) Robertson in 1946.  They raised six children and were active in the community.  She worked at the CharBroil Restaurant and volunteered at Park Ridge Hospital for many years, making many dear friends.  She loved doing beautiful craft work and knitting with her sister Virginia.  She was a great cook and left us with many favorite family recipes.  Her sharp wit and spunky determination to have it her way made her who she was.  She loved to dance and kept her feet tapping to the music even during her final illness.  She loved jewelry–always noticed what other people were wearing and tried to finagle a way to make it hers–that became a standing joke.  She appreciated the loving care of the staff at The Atria, The Hamlet and The Cottages; they became her friends, and we are grateful to all of them.  Her life-long friends Judy, Pat, Betty and Mary made sure to stay in touch, which she always appreciated.

We as a family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Unity Cottages for the loving, compassionate care during her final illness; special thanks to nurses Theresa and Jenn for their tireless help at the most difficult time, and to MaryBeth for brightening Mom’s days with visits from her dog Lucie.

Internment at Fairfield Cemetery in Spencerport at a future date.   In lieu of flowers, we ask that you would consider a donation to Lifetime Care Hospice or to your favorite charity in her name.
