Rochester, NY – Passed away September 30, 2021 at age 101. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Jr. and Gary Chapman (Beth), and her grandchildren Anna Chapman May (Scott) and Henry Chapman.
Having grown up in a close-knit family in Rochester’s 19th Ward, she graduated from West High School and married Robert in the early days of World War II. Later Dorothy had a long and successful career as a highly valued secretary at the John D. Brush Co. She especially enjoyed frequent and spirited games of bridge with Robert, her aunt Bea and uncle Art Seitz. Later in life she enjoyed her numerous friends and travels to beautiful destinations such as the Canadian Rockies and Hawaii.

I send you my deepest condolences on the loss of your wonderful mother. Our parents were friends forever. I remember when I was growing up, Dorothy and Bob would come to our house now and then on a Friday or Saturday evening for a game of bridge, My parents enjoyed knowing both of your parents.

Gary an Robert, My condolence to you from Anne Taylor Allen and Dan Taylor. What beautiful memories I have of Mr and Mrs Chapman. Many laughs would come from our kitchen on Roxborough when your parents would walk down and spend sometime in our kitchen . Manhattan “s and mixed salted peanuts were always served. Never a lull in conversation or laughter. Can still picture your home on Genesee Park Blvd. with those beautiful Red Canna Lilies in your front years.

You may not remember me but I am Ralph Bengtson’s daughter, Diane. I am not sure what provoked me to search for my Aunt Dorothy but I did and I am so very sad to hear of her death, and not long ago.. My condolences to your family. I would love to reconnect as I suspect, my sister, Carla, would as well. I know I need to leave my email with the funeral home to leave this message.
Sorry for the belated response… but many thanks for your expression of sympathy. Our parents were very fond of the Bengston clan. I’m actually writing this in a car with brother Bob at the wheel as we pass Schenectady en route to Rochester and Niagara Falls for our annual fall golf trip.
