Rochester, NY: Alyce passed away peacefully on February 2, 2018. She was a cherished mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Alyce is predeceased by her beloved husband, Langston P. Kelso, her parents, William Majors, Sr. and Orie Rainey, her brothers, David Majors and William Majors, Jr. and her special sister Mary L. Davis.
She is survived by her son, David AJ Kelso and “second” son, Elton Huff, sister-in-law, Ivy Clark, generations of cousins, nieces, nephews, many neighbors and, of course, Miss Coco, who will be lovingly cared for by Donna Lemcke and Jennifer Gravitz.
Alyce’s brilliant smile, loving heart and passion for life touched so many people’s lives— from her students and co-workers at Monroe BOCES, to family members, to friends, to Corn Hill neighbors—all of whom were warmly welcomed to the maroon house at Atkinson & Eagle. Her happiest moments were spent there in the company of family and friends, whom she and Langston met and loved dearly, from back yard to front porch, for nearly half a century.
Her Homegoing Service and Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 11:00 am, commencing with a short gravesite service at the Maplewood Cemetery Association, Inc., located at 10474 South Street, LeRoy, NY 14482. Look for the purple balloons at the entrance to the cemetery.
A celebration of Alyce’ life, and the joy she brought to all of us, will follow immediately thereafter at 12:00 pm at the Farmer’s Creekside Tavern & Inn, located at One Main Street, LeRoy, NY 14482.
We have the warmest memories of Alyce and her very social front porch! She ruled the street and had a smile for everyone. Such an incredible lady…she will be missed by all…Heaven has a new bright star!
