Whitehall, NY: On September 19, 2017, Andres Aviles went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. During the last month of his life here on Earth, Andres was surrounded by those that loved him greatly including his three daughters and several grandchildren, and three of his great grandchildren. He was a loving and caring example of a husband, father, and grandfather to all that knew him.
Born on November 30, of 1925, Andres Aviles was not afraid to pursue his dreams. At the age of 13, he left his family in Puerto Rico to start his own pursuits and passions. He came to New York City in 1944 and explored several paths of interest. After a brief time as an amateur boxer, he then pursued a career as an artisan. He purchased his own metal shop and learned the art of metal spinning. He used his skill to create amazing pieces of art, in the form of street lamps, that are still to this day visible in the city of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Andres Aviles is survived by his daughters, Nancy Irizarry, Nayda Meacham, and Helen Montalvo. He will always be missed in the hearts of his family, and they all look forward to the day they will be reunited with him in heaven.
