Rochester, NY: August 2, 2020 Ann E. Russell at the age of 87.
Ann is predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Philip Russell. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was born in Rochester, NY and raised her family in Churchville, NY and Holley, NY. She was renowned for the tradition of a McDonald family reunion picnic held annually for many years at her property in Holley, NY that was attended by her children, grandchildren, siblings, and many of her nieces and nephews.
She retired from the Churchville, NY Post Office where she was the first female rural route mail carrier. She and her husband moved to Ellenton, FL where they enjoyed a full and happy retirement until the passing of her husband. In her retirement, she enjoyed “wine-time” with her many community friends. She also enjoyed many cruises and visits to beaches with her children and grandchildren.
She was an avid writer and wrote and self-published collections of her poetry that was heartfelt and thoughtful and showed a clever wit and intelligence.
She was an open and loving person who had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by her children, who loved her with all their hearts.
The family wishes to express special appreciation to the staff at Heather Heights Senior Living for their compassionate care to Ann and to our family during the difficult days leading up to her passing.
Please send donations to UR Medicine Hospice (2180 Empire Blvd, Webster, NY 14580) or to Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org) in Ann’s memory.
My Aunt Ann, such a lovely person with a great spirit. The youngest McDonald child and the one that got all of her siblings together with their children for a yearly picnic celebration. She is now with my Mother Mary in heaven and will be truly missed.

Phil and Ann were my parents neighbors across the street in Ellenton Florida. I went often with my parents across the street to the Russell house and we had a great time at the wine party every week.
We miss both of them and they will always be our neighbors.
