Hi Cousin Steve,
I am sure you are feeling sad about the loss of Aunt Betty. We used to talk all the time. I live in Florida now and the covid-19 virus has kept us home. The Babin family, Lil and Greg, susie and marylin, moved to Maryland in 1943 so my Dad could get a government job. He worked for State Department. We travelled to Rochester every summer for the family reunion held at a park. We had about 150 cousins attend. We always looked forward to that picnic.
Uncle Burt took good care of your family. We used to stop into Shelby drug store named after shelly and barry–you were not born at that time, otherwise he would have put your name in the store name I’m sure. Your mom was such a proper woman, hair always done and clothes so lovely.
I remember seeing your brother at the Kennedy Center where he played jazz piano with Buddy Rich. We had nose bleed seats and darn if I got so excited I did get a really did get a nose bleed. We went back stage to visit with Barry. He was so tall and blond curly hair. We were so proud of him. He was happy to see Aunt Lil and Uncle Greg, and myself-susie with husband Laurie.
I remember well that when Uncle Bert played the piano boogy woogy–he would bounce on the piano seat. He was so talented and loved to play. My mom played the piano by ear. Talented and I’m sure you inherited that musical ability.
If you need to talk call me. Love Cousin Susie Paper 301-806-8935
