Buffalo, NY: April 3, 2021 at age 92.
Catherine is pre-deceased by her brother Eddie (Ann) and her sister Ines (Jim), survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Peter, and her children: Cindy Solomon (Jerry), Sandra Giovinazzo-Yates (Gene), Susan Fox-Beroza (Allen) and Rick Giovinazzo (Olya). Grandmother to Michelle, Carolyn, Nicole, Rachel, Julia, Elliott, Catherine and Adam, great grandmother to Oscar, Annabelle and Olivia. She is Aunt Rena to 2 nieces and a nephew and Aunt Kay to 7 nieces and nephews. She was a second mother to many more.
She was born in Italy and came to this country at age 9, where she never lost the many traditions of her Italian heritage including manicotti surpassed by none. She worked as a hair dresser and caterer, but her greatest pleasure was to welcome family and friends into her home where you were nourished not only by delicious food but stories, laughter and love. She had an open heart with a deep love for all those in her orbit and a deep faith manifested with service to others, cooking for and visiting family, friends, and neighbors in need.
There will be a celebration of life planned for summer 2021. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association gratefully accepted in her name.
