I was a student of Dave in year 2010 to 2013. He had been the greatest lecturer and my most favorite at all times. I’m glad I had been keeping in touch with him and was able to host him when he was visiting Malaysia. He had been helping me with my visa issue also.
He had been like a father to me. There are so much more I want to say, but words can’t describe how much he meant for me.
Dave, I know you are in better place right now.
I will miss you a lot.
David Lawlor was one of the kindest and most supportive professors I had while at RIT. He helped spark my interest in genomics which is a large part of my current research in graduate school. I am honored to have had him as a professor. He will be greatly missed!
David Lawlor was one of the best professors I ever had at RIT and more importantly he was a great and caring mentor. Words cannot express how thankful I am to have been his student. He helped me land my first full time research job, and years later supported me while I was applying to medical school. I would not be where I am today without him. Dave, you are truly going to be missed and I hope you know how much of an impact you made on the lives of so many students.
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Lawlor. He was one of the most dedicated and caring mentors that I had at RIT. His enthusiasm for research was contagious. It was due in large part to him that I decided to pursue a career in research. Dr. Lawlor always lent a supportive ear and provided sound advice when needed. I only wish he knew how grateful I am for all that he has done for me. Dr. Lawlor, you will be truly missed.
Apologies for the lateness of this condolence, as I just found out. I was a student of Dr. Lawlor during my college days (2002-2008, BS and MS). We stayed somewhat in touch, afterwards, with updates on school/job status (he was a great reference to have). Dr. Lawlor was one of my favorite professors and one reason I pursued a career in genomics research. He always was available for advice/questions, and went above and beyond the call of duty. He will be deeply missed. May he have found peace…
I am saddened to hear the news of David’s passing. He was my post-doctoral mentor at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. A great scientist and a person of integrity. I will treasure our discussions on science and other topics. Sincere condolences to his family.
I just found out about David’s passing . I met David when I was 10 years old ( he lived in the same neighborhood as me in San Antonio Texas ) and we remained close friends ( as swimming team members, high school and UT Texas buddies ) up until we lost touch in the 1990s. There is a lot that be said about David but the one thing I will always remember is that he was a man exhibited great courage in adversity and one who stood by his principles. I’ll miss you a lot Lawlor. RIP.
I just was informed about David’s passing. David and I were college room mates at the University of Texas, and remained dear friends ever since. We lost touch, when he moved to New York, but we shared so many great times over the years. I loved the man, and I miss him. I will always cherish the memories of our times together. He was a large and important part of my life. RIP.

Found out David’s passing recently. He was a Peace Corp Vol. in my hometown. He was a dear friend who I will deeply miss. Rest in God’s peace, Dave.
